Infant Swimming Resource ("ISR")
ABOUT INFANT SWIMMING RESOURCE
ISR’s Self-Rescue® program is a 6-8 week course, scheduled Monday through Friday (five days a week) for ten minutes each day.
What Your Child Will Learn
ISR's unique results are achieved through fully customized, safe and effective, one-on-one lessons with only your child and your child's instructor in the water.
The skills your child will learn and the way they will acquire them is what makes ISR so unique and different from traditional swimming lessons. Always putting safety first, we emphasize competence, which leads to confidence, and provides the foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment in and around the water.
The specific skills your child will learn depends on their age and developmental readiness, but in all cases, at minimum, your child will learn to roll onto his or her back to float, rest and breathe, and maintain this position until help arrives.
Children 6-24 Months Old
Why this young? Because the sooner, the safer!
Children ages 6-24 months will learn breath control, correct floating posture, and the skills to attain a back float and remain floating for a varied period of time. These students are brought back at an older age to learn the full swim-float-swim sequence.
Children 2-6 Years Old
Children 2-6 years will learn the full swim-float-swim sequence, which begins with learning breath control and the skills to secure the edge of the pool or steps. Children learn correct swimming posture in a face down position, how to roll on to their backs to float, and turn back over to continue swimming. This is repeated until safety is reached.
Because 83% of children who drown are fully clothed, each of our students have the opportunity to practice their self-rescue skills in their clothes during the final week of lessons. We like to do both summer and winter clothes as drowning knows no season.
Safety First
At ISR, your child’s safety is our first priority. Each survival swimming lesson is uniquely tailored to your child’s needs based on comprehensive assessments and continual monitoring of your child’s health and skill attainment. We understand that every child learns at his or her own pace, and accordingly, your child will be gently guided through each skill level based on his or her level of development and readiness.
Multi-Layered Approach
ISR believes active adult supervision, pool fences, and pool alarms are important parts of a necessary multi-layered approach to drowning prevention. However, traditional lines of defense break down and the drowning statistics each year bear a grim testament to the fact that traditional approaches are missing a key component: the child. ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy. Our over 300,000 ISR graduates and 800 documented survival stories are proof that children can save themselves. Children are curious, capable, and have an uncanny ability to overcome obstacles like pool fences. At ISR, we provide children with the skills to potentially save their lives should they ever find themselves in the water alone.
Instructor Training
ISR Instructors are highly trained and certified to teach the ISR Self-Rescue® method. Each instructor completes an 8-week training and certification program, which includes a minimum of 80 hours of supervised in-water training and a challenging academic component that focuses on subjects such as child psychology, physiology, and behavioral science. Once an instructor is fully certified, they are required to complete annual reviews and recertification to ensure their skills and techniques continue to meet ISR's safety standards.

REGISTRATION
1. Talk With Your Instructor
Do you have questions about the program? Use the contact form or contact me via e-mail at m.cross@infantswim.com. Please include your name and phone number, your child's age, and the best way to reach you.
2. ISR Aledo Registration and Deposit Fees
Once you fully understand ISR's Self-Rescue® program and have determined you want to make this commitment for your child, we will establish an available time slot that works best for your family. The ISR Aledo annual registration fee ($50.00) and deposit for the first two weeks of lessons ($300.00) are non-refundable and due within 24 hours to secure your time slot. Payment can be made via Venmo (@morganacross), cash, or check made payable to ISR Aledo, LLC. Prior to the first lesson, I will provide parents with an ISR Lesson Checklist and Guideline document that includes all information needed regarding necessary swim attire, what to bring to lessons, foods to avoid, etc. Please carefully review this information prior to the first lesson.
3. Infant Swimming Resource Registration and Fee
At this point, I will e-mail parents a secure link in which you can proceed to register your child with ISR directly. There is a non-refundable registration fee of $105.00 per child (or $35.00 per child for returning students) paid directly to ISR which allows our Registration Evaluation Team (RET) to review your child's medical history. Payment can be made via credit card, PayPal, or check. After submission of your child's registration, the RET will review all information and once approved, ISR will e-mail both of us confirmation that registration is complete. At that point, your ISR registration fee will be processed and lessons may begin. Approval can take up to one week and is required before lessons may begin.
Infant Swimming Resource, LLC ("ISR") complies with all federal and state laws and regulations and does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age, religion or disability. It is the policy of ISR to provide reasonable accommodations to its disabled applicants and students, with the provision of appropriate documentation of the need for the accommodation.
MAINTENANCE & REFRESHER LESSONS
Maintenance Lessons
After becoming skilled in ISR's Self-Rescue® program, it is recommended to continue lessons to maintain skills. I recommend starting with one maintenance lesson per month and if we find that more or less are needed, we will adjust to fit the need of each student. I will do my best to offer maintenance lessons throughout the year as the weather permits.
Refresher Session
For students that have not kept up with maintenance lessons or who may have hit several developmental milestones, a refresher session is highly recommended. Refresher sessions sharpen and refine skills to ensure each student is competent and confident. Refresher sessions typically require 3-4 weeks.
Please contact me directly to schedule maintenance lessons or a refresher session.

ABOUT MORGAN
I was born and raised in Graham, a small town just northwest of here. I graduated from Graham High School in 2010 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies in 2014 from Texas Tech University. After graduation, I earned my teacher certification and taught special education at a private school in Fort Worth where I loved being a part of my students' lives and having the opportunity to help and watch them grow.
In 2017, my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child and I happened to come across a Facebook post about ISR. Until then, l was unaware that drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children ages 1-4. Before our son was even born, I had reached out to Kelsey Strieby, an ISR Instructor in Fort Worth, about enrolling him in lessons. He had his first ISR lesson when he was 10 months old and within six weeks, he was able to independently and confidently float - before he could even walk.
During my son's session, I learned there was a need for an instructor here in Aledo. Kelsey was so helpful in making the decision to apply to become an instructor and was so encouraging throughout the process. I knew these lessons were the real deal, but seeing my own son develop a skill set that could potentially save his life was the most incredible feeling. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to provide these lessons
to other families and to contribute to ISR's mission,
"Not One More Child Drowns".
